What the title Bilanzbuchhalterin means
A selbständige Bilanzbuchhalterin — an independent qualified accountant — is a registered profession in Austria. It is not a nice-sounding label that anyone can put next to their name: it is the authorisation to handle a company’s bookkeeping independently. For you it means that your figures are not with “a friend who is good with numbers”, but with an accountant who practises this profession under Austrian rules.

Between two languages, two systems
Running a business in Austria as a Hungarian means living in two worlds at once: you think in Hungarian, but official matters have to be handled in German — and it is easy to get lost in between. That in-between space is where I work every day: I speak Hungarian with my clients, and I correspond with the Finanzamt and the authorities in German. It is no accident that this site can be read in three languages.

LB Buchhaltung is a one-person practice, and I do not say that as an apology. The person who answers the phone is me. The person who listens to you at the consultation is me. And the person who then does your bookkeeping is also me — not a trainee your case gets “passed down” to. What I take on — and what I do not
Speaking plainly also means saying where my authority ends. In Austria, comprehensive tax advice — tax planning, tax law opinions — is reserved for the Steuerberater (tax adviser), and I am not a Steuerberater. If your question goes beyond that, I will tell you honestly — I will not give advice I am not authorised to give.
